He was attending Hawken's school, 1588 Ansel Rd in Cleveland, when school let out,he ran across the street to meet his governess who was there to pick him up. He was struck by a motor delivery truck as he ran across the street. The principal of the school, Mr. James A. Hawken, picked young Myron up and rushed him to Mt. Sinai Hospital. He died before he arrived at the hospital. This incident happened November 17,1917. His parents had been temporarily living in Washington where his father had been in engaged in government business. He was staying with his grandparents, former ammbassador Mr & Mrs Myron T & Caroline Herrick. They too were out of town at the time of the accident, Myron being in New York and Caroline in Columbus.
