In the city of Cleveland, as the ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic neighborhood boundaries shifted in the 19th and early 20th century, it was not uncommon for families to move farther out from downtown, and have relatives removed and reinterred in cemeteries nearer their new neighborhoods. Thus, some notable Clevelanders and their family members have two or even three burial sites, some leaving the original memorial stones in place, moving remains from Erie Street Cemetery downtown, to Woodland at what is now nearer MidTown, to Lake View Cemetery which is at the far eastern edge of the city and partially in East Cleveland and Cleveland Heights.
