John T.(Taylor) Sterling was married to Elizabeth Lyle Hook Knox. She was related to the Rouths of Natchez, Miss. John T. owned a large plantation near Sterlington, Louisiana. The town was named for him. He and Elizabeth had no children together. Elizabeth had a son named George by a previous marriage. John T.'s parents were John and Salley Sterling. He was born in Tennessee. His brother Robert Sterling was a lawyer and married Caroline Morehouse (m. 1821), daughter of Abraham Morehouse (and Eleanor Hook) for whom Morehouse Parish is named. If you google, you can find out about the cemetery and lawsuit over cleaning it up, etc. My ggg grandmother Margaret Barnet Sterling Stutson was his younger sister.
