JOHN E. WELKER
JOHN E. "Woody" WELKER, 78, of Lavelle, died yesturday at Ashland State Hospital where he had been a patient for the last two weeks.
Before retiring he was employed by Germantown Colliery.
Mr. Welker was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Shamokin VFW, Ashland American Legion, Valley View Gun Club, Lavelle Amvets and Fire Company, Valley View and Hegins Fire Companies, Good Civic Club, Mount Carmel, Band Fellowship Club, of Ashland.
Survivors are his widow, the former Marie Enterline; three brothers, Lester, of Ashland, Harry and Charles of Lavelle; one sister, Mrs. Louella Hadesty, of Frackville.
Services will be held Friday afternoon at the Willard A. Rothermel Funeral Home, Mount Carmel, interment in Citizens Cemetery, Lavelle.
