In 1850 Lydia married a young man named Willis Harrison, who had been teaching school and boarding with her family in Clark, Arkansas. He later became a physician, also the profession of Lydia's father. The couple started their family in Arkansas, then moved to Coryell and Bell counties in central Texas where more children were born. Lydia died near McGregor, McLennan, Texas in 1883 and was buried in Comanche Springs Cemetery there.
