Rock Musician. He was the leader and founding member of the influential 1960s blues rock band "The Yardbirds." The group, known for its musical expression, had such notable guitarists as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. With Yardbirds drummer Jim McCarty, his younger sister Jane Relf and keyboardist John Hawken (The Nashville Teens), he formed the progressive rock band, "Renaissance" in 1969. Keith Relf was found dead in his home studio in Hounslow, England from an electrical fault while playing his guitar. In recognition of The Yardbirds' contribution and innovation to music, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. They were also rated at number 89 on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the Top "100 Greatest Artists of All-Time" and ranked number 37 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock list. In April 2003, remaining members, which included guitarist Jeff Beck and other guest musicians, released a tribute album entitled "Birdland."
