Robert S. Morris, 77, of Harbor Springs, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at home.

Bob was born Feb. 28, 1934, in Saginaw, the son of Kenneth and Ella (Bortz) Morris. The family later moved to a farm in rural Frederick, Mich., before settling in Petoskey.

On Jan. 1, 1955, he married the former Mary L. Lashmit in Petoskey. They moved to their current home of 56 years in Harbor Springs.

Bob was employed as a tool and die maker and later worked for many years with Ingraham Painters until he retired.

He was a member of the Harbor Springs Lions Club, enjoyed hunting, ice fishing on the bay, puttering around his house and yard, visiting with neighbors, and watching black and white movies, especially westerns.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Mike (Sarah) Morris, Pat (LeaAnn) Morris, Rob (Nicki) Morris; daughter, Diane (Tim) Kabat; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean (Tom) Childers and Carol Morris.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother, Kenneth, and sisters, Karen, Lorraine and Chelvea.

A family memorial gathering will take place at a later date.

Arrangements are pending at Schiller Funeral Home.

Per Uncle Bob's request he will be cremated.
