U.S. Congressman. After graduating from Cameron State Agricultural College Oklahoma, he served as a Private in the U.S. Army Air Force Reserves and was employed by Federal Bureau of Investigation, Washington, D.C., during World War II. After the war, he was manager of Magnolia Amusement Company Arkansas (1945-51), moved to New Mexico, in 1951 and became partner in Southland Supply Company in 1952. He also formed Runnels Mud Company in 1953 and a founder of the Permian Basin Petroleum Association in 1960. He formed the Run Co Acidizing & Fracturing Company in 1964, was a member of the New Mexico Senate (1960-70) and a delegate to New Mexico State Democratic conventions (1960-79). In 1971, he was elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-second Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until his death from cancer.
