Born in Ermelo, Netherlands. Received his schooling in the Netherlands and when a boy of 18 came to America with his parents and resided in O'Brien and Sioux County. Married Dena Rensink of Boyden on March 1, 1901. After marriage they farmed in O'Brien and Sioux County. They had 3 daughters and one son. Daughters Mrs. Tom Reuvers (Nell) of Sheldon, Mrs. Tony Noordhoek (Josie) of Sheldon; Mrs. Peter Tenclay (Harriet) of Primghar and Henry Jr. of Slayton, Minn.
Mr. VanNyhuis devoted much of his time to flowers. He also served at one time on the Christian School Board
