U.S. Congressman. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1879 and commenced practice in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He was attorney for Uniontown Borough, (1881-91), solicitor of Fayette County, (1894-12) and president of the Uniontown Hospital, (1905-15). In 1915, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth Congress, serving until 1917. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death.
