My dear Granny

Novie Jean Hollis Creed was the youngest of ten children born to Carl and Beulah Cranford Hollis. She loved the South and Louisiana as no one else did. But most of all, she loved her Lord and family. Novie Jean accepted Jesus as her personal Saviour in July 1956 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Laran, Louisiana. She read her Bible every morning and took her family to church faithfully. She was also a charter member of Iron Mountain Baptist Church. Novie Jean married John M. Creed on October 14, 1948 and was the mother of five wonderful children: Nancy, Johnny, Mickey, Cindy, and Cathy.

So many stories and memories flood my mind when I think of Granny that there is no way I could mention them all here. I remember spending many summer days and nights with Granny. She loved to talk about Huey and Earl Long and all of the famous governors of Louisiana. She loved her state and was very proud to be the granddaughter of a Confederate soldier. Many times we would sit in the rocking chairs on the front porch and talk or listen to music. Whenever "Dixie" would play she would jump up and say, "Stand up for the national anthem!" There will never be another Granny like my Granny. I miss her so, but I have the precious hope of seeing her again.
