Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 3, 1943, from Lundberg & Son's mortuary for James Allen Biggs of Bayocian who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lena Mapes at the age of 87 years, seven months and 2 days of age a few minutes before midnight New Year's Eve at almost the same time his wife, Nancy Catherine Heater, passed away 47 years ago on New Years's Eve.
The chapel was filled with friends and there were many beautiful flowers. Rev C.O. Heath officiated and Clifford Smith sang the lovely hymn, 'Abide With Me' and 'Lead Kindly Light.' Interment was made in the Tillamook I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mr. Biggs was born May 29th, 1855, at Flaunon, TX and came to Tillamook at the age of 20. In September, 1882, he married Nancy Katherine Heater. He made logging his life occupation. He was a member of the Pioneer Association and a charter member of the Moose Lodge. His twin borther, Albert passed away in January, 1942. They had spent their lives in the same vicinity and were the oldest twins in Oregon.
He is survived by six children, Mrs. Lena Mapes, Mrs. Mamie Wilkes, Mrs. Alva Davidson, and Fred Biggs, of Tillamook, Mrs. Florence Harrington, of Alsea, and Mrs. Myrtle Mortenson of California, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren and many old friends.
