Mrs. Adaline W. Allen, 83, died at 3 a.m. Friday at her home in Montebello where she had resided all her life.
Born Oct. 5, 1863, in Nelson County, she was a daughter of the late John and Evaline Hatter Allen [sic Zink]. She was the widow of Jefferson Davis Allen.
Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Rosa Brooks, Galveston, Tex.; Mrs. Frank Doyle, Buchanan; Mrs. Wheelen Fauber, Cornwall; Mrs. Willie W. Cash, Roanoke; Mrs. Martha Brown, Riverdale, Md.; Mrs. Audrey Williams, Portsmouth; Mrs. Ernest Desantis, Washington; Mrs. Gilbert H. Brandenburg, Montebello; one son, Perry D. Allen, South Houston, Tex.
The body will be removed to her home Saturday and funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by the Rev. D. N. McGrady of Roanoke. Burial will be in the family cemetery in Montebello.

MRS. ADALINE ALLEN
Mrs. Adaline Allen, 83, wife of J. A. Allen, was laid to rest Sunday afternoon in the family burial grounds, in a ceremony under the direction of the Etter Funeral Home of Waynesboro. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. McGrady of Roanoke.
Mrs. Allen was born, reared, and died in Nelson County. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Zink and was christened Adaline Whitmore Zink. In 1881 she married Jefferson Davis Allen and unto them were born twelve daughters and two sons.
Mrs. Allen is survived by nine daughters and one son: Mrs. Rosa Brooks, Gaveston, Texas; Mrs. Lillie Doyle, Buchanan, Mrs. Lina Birdie Fauber, Vesuvius, Mrs. Arlene Cash, Roanoke, Mrs. Lillian Brown, Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Audry Williams, Craddock; Mrs. Addie Desantis, Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Ruby Brandenburg, Vesuvius; and Perry Allen, Houston, Texas.
Funeral service were to have been conducted at the house but due to the large attendance of friends and relatives, the services were held on the lawn.
Honorary pallbearers were sons-in-law, Tom Brooks, Frank Doyle, Wheeler Fauber, Willie Cash, Ernest Desantis and Gilbert Brandenburg; active, grandsons; Cleatis Blair, Donavon Fauber, Willie Doyle, Eugene Cash, Harold Kirchner, and Kenneth Williams.
Flower girls were granddaughters: Mrs. Mary Blair, Mrs. Virginia Goodall, Mrs. Adaline Wilkins, Mrs. Mary Gladu, Mrs. Francis Falls, Miss Mildred Doyle, Mrs. Mattie Robinson, Mrs. Hazel Byres, Miss Lillian Doyle, Miss Jacqueline Williams and Miss Mary Lou Williams.
