KATHRYN L. "KAY" HAMILTON, 82, of 610 8th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at her home.

Kay was born May 7, 1927 in Erie, IL, to Earl and Mary (Hussong) Huizenga. She was a graduate of Erie High School and of Sterling School of Beauty. Kay married John H. "Jack" Hamilton on January 28, 1948 in Fulton, IL. She was employed by the former Fidelity Life Insurance Company of Fulton. She then owned and operated Kay's Beauty Shop in Fulton for over 50 years and most recently served as beautician for Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton. She also had been employed by Gate City Steel in Sterling, IL. Kay was a long time member of the American Red Cross Gateway Area Chapter. She was a volunteer for the YWCA of Clinton, IA, the Republican Women's Committee, and was a reading volunteer for the Fulton Elementary School. Kay was a member of the WaTanYe's, the Women's Service Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary all of Fulton. She was a former Sunday School teacher at the Second Reformed Church in Fulton. Kay was an avid Cubs, Bears, and Fighting Illini fan and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; two sons, Mark (Sandy) Hamilton and David (Lynn) Hamilton both of Fulton; five grandchildren, Amy (Tim) Hartig, Jill Hamilton (Kevin Hamstra), Joni (Jake) VanDeWostine, Kara (Seth) Spooner, and Darcy Hamilton; two great grandchildren, Benjamin Hartig and Haylee Hamstra; three sisters, Edna (Wayne) Sikkema of Fulton; Marie (George) Pelletier of Silvis, IL and Grace (Marvin) DeWeerdt of Sun City, AZ; and a special friend, Mary Lou Adkin of Clinton, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Joyce Temple and in infancy, Shirley Huizenga; two brothers, Johnnie and E. Donald Huizenga.
