Juanita Elizabeth Baumgarner, 82, of Bellflower, Calif., passed away Jan. 13, 2006.

Mrs. Baumgarner worked most of her life in the restaurant business and was at one time the manager of Western Hills Country Club in Mt. Vernon, Ind. She also worked at the Parkette in Mt. Vernon, Ind. She moved to California in 1974. She permanently retired in 1988. She was an active volunteer with Kaiser-Permanente Medical Center in Bellflower for several years.

Mrs. Baumgarner was born May 17, 1923, in Steubenville, Ohio, to Catherine (Priest) and John Wesley McCoy.

She is survived by a daughter, Debra Tapp of Mt. Vernon; sons James Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz., John Franklin Baumgarner of Long Beach, Calif., and John Wesley Baumgarner of Lakewood, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Toni McKinnies and husband Scott and Katie Tapp of Mt. Vernon, Jaime Fairchild, Jimmy and Eric Johnson of California, Jessica Ryan and husband Mike and Lacey Baumgarner of Indiana; and four great-grandchildren, Aaron, Amanda, Juanita and Olivia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Baumgarner Jr., on Feb. 5, 1973; her parents; and her brothers Jim, Jack, Bob and Bill.

There will be services today in California and graveside services in Mt. Vernon, Ind., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Bellfontaine Cemetery.
