Mrs. Chas. M. Sheldon died at Scarritta Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., on Sunday afternoon, July 5th, at four o'clock, after undergoing a surgical operation performed on Wednesday of last week. Mrs. Sheldon was formerly Miss Lavernia T. Taylor, daughter of Mr. H. H. Taylor, who was for many years a prominent banker and business man of Clay Center, Kansas. Mr. Taylor was a distinguished Union soldier, and received special recognition from Congress for gallantry on the field of battle at Vicksburg. Miss Taylor was married to Chas. M. Sheldon, who was for many years a banker at Burlingame, Kansas, March 20, 1889. Mr. Sheldon now resides in Kansas City, and is the president of the Southern Securities Company and largely identified with the oil business at Beaumont. Her husband, one little girl and three little boys survive her, and also her father , mother and sister, Mrs. C. K. Bowen, of 1341 East 9th St., Kansas City, Mo., and a brother Mr. W. W. Taylor, of Beaumont, Texas. She was a woman of sweet character, beloved by all who knew her, always a consistent Christian and at the time of her death a member of Dr. Quayle's Grand Avenue Methodist church. The funeral was held on Tuesday from the family residence at the corner of 10th and Cleveland Sts., Kansas City, Kansas, after which interment took place at Elmwood Cemetery.
