CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004, at a Mass in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Leroy Joseph Prejean, 84, who died at 1:10 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peters Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Musical selections will be provided by Charlotte Jopling, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. Mr. Prejean was a native of Carencro and lived there for most of his 84 years. He was a farmer as well as employed by Montgomery Wards in Lafayette for over 10 years. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church. A veteran of the military, Mr. Prejean had served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include one son, James Prejean and his wife, Patsy, of Corpus Christi, Texas; one daughter, Jeannette Prejean Foret and her husband, Michael (Mickey), of Carencro; three grandchildren, Lisa Lifsey and her husband, Kevin, of Carencro, Timmy Prejean and his wife, Christy, of Lafayette, and Maggie Prejean of Corpus Christi, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Hailey Renee Lifsey, Tylor Jerriel Lifsey and Blake Michal Lifsey; eight step-grandchildren, Angie Green, Michelle Foret, Mike Foret, Mackenzie Foret, Skyler Green, Hannah Foret and Hunter Foret; and two step-great grandchildren, Stephanie Prejean and Lindsey Prejean; and three sisters, Claudia P. Chiasson, Lucy P. Menard and Jeanne P. Bernard, all of Carencro.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleymey Guilbeau Prejean; his mother, the former Georgiana David; his father, Elie Prejean; four brothers, David Prejean, Sidney Prejean, Esteve Prejean and George Prejean; one sister, Lula P. Mouton and one step-grandchild, Brandie Foret.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, Louisiana 4615 N. University Avenue was in charge of arrangements.
