Obituary
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Jeanne Bernard, age 89, the former Jeanne Prejean, who passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 at 2:50 p.m. at Evangeline Oaks Guest House in Carencro.

Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro.

Mrs. Bernard was a native and resident of Carencro all of her life. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro and was a member of the Bonne Mort Society and the Ladies Altar Society.

Survivors include one son, Joseph Roy Bernard and his wife, Anna Lou, of Carencro; one daughter, Jacqueline Talley and her husband, Alvin, of Carencro; three grandchildren, Vivian Montet and her husband, Robert, of Carencro, Mitchell Talley of Carencro and Denise Primeaux and her husband, Karl, of New Iberia; two great grandchildren, Dexter Montet and Robyn Landry and her husband, Tylar, all of Carencro; two great, great grandchildren, Luke Landry and Lane Landry; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Armand Bernard; her parents, Elie Prejean and the former Georgina David; five brothers, Leroy Prejean, George Prejean, David Prejean, Sidney Prejean and Esteve Prejean; and three sisters, Lucy Menard, Cloudia Chiasson and Vivian Mouton.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Roy Bernard, Alvin Talley, Dexter Montet, Mitchell Talley, Tim Stelly and Robert Montet. Honorary pallbearers will be E.J. Olivier and Jimmy Bearb.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
