Imogene Lee Norwood Cantrell of Tellico Plains, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Woods Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church. She was a wife, mother, sister, caregiver, grandmother to many and a very special friend to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by all her nieces and nephews who knew her as their Granny Imy. She was 87.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Frank Cantrell; daughter; Frankie Cantrell; parents, John Henry and Florence Ellis Norwood; stepmom, Annie Ervin Norwood; three brothers, Paris, Vandis and Woodrow Norwood; one sister, Gladys Norwood; and brother-in-law, Arlin Williams.
Survivors: sisters and brother-in-law-Kay Williams of Tellico Plains; and Shirley and Kenneth Taylor of Athens; Brother and sister-in-law-John Jr. and Linda Norwood of Reliance; Sisters-in-law-Millie Edwards of Tellico Plains; Avis Norwood Ballew of Etowah; and Selma Norwood of Virginia; Several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, May16, at Myers Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in Myers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Fritts officiating. Family and friends will assemble at Myers Funeral Home at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 17, and proceed to Rural Vale Cemetery for a 2 p.m. interment. Arrangements by Myers Funeral Home, Tellico Plains.
