Mrs Lydia Bryant wife of William Bryant passed away at 5 o’clock yesterday morning at the family residence three miles south of Clark’s Hill. She had been an invalid for ten years, suffering with repeated strokes of paralysis and passed away in an unconscious condition. She was born in Ross county, Ohio, on March 2, 1829, and was married to Mr Bryant on July 29, 1846. Immediately after their marriage they came to this state and located on a farm just across the line in Montgomery county. With the exception of a few years they lived in that locality until Mrs Bryant passed away. A husband and the following daughters survive; Mrs Mary Taylor, of Clark’s Hill; Mrs Frank Kirkpatrick, of Lafayette, and Mrs Lorin Jenkins and Mrs Anna Clark, who resides near the home place. Mrs Bryant was a member of the Christian church and was highly esteemed. She fed the hungry clothed the naked and hid many Christians acts. She was a hospitable woman and her home was always open to her friends, who were assured a hearty welcome. She was a noble woman and her influence was felt by the entire community. She was loved and respected by all and her death is deeply regretted. The funeral will be conducted from the residence tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Rev A W Jackman, of Monticello, and Rev Mr Kuns, of Clark’s Hill, will officiate. Miss Bertha Ridgely will sing and the interment will be made in the Union Cemetery.
