Mustered out on 08 Nov 1861 at Quincy, IL.
*****************************
Tuesday, Sep 4, 1898, Ruben Tubbs, aged sixty-seven years.
There is a difference of opinion regarding the cause of his death and we are unable to say just the trouble. He has had heart trouble and that may have had considerable to do with it.
He was a solider during the Rebellion but was not a member of the GAR. He was buried with military honors by the local post: Tuesday. Rev R.W. Harlow officiating.
He has been in Park Rapids for sometime and his weaknesses were well known to those to knew him best but they were buried with him and who can say what the verdict of the Great Tribunal will be when his life and its trials and temtations are taken into account.
