Charles L. Ashford Dies at Age of 74
Charles L. Ashford, aged 74, 333 North Fern, a retired farmer and brother of George M. Ashford, Judge of division I of city court, died in a Wichita convalescent home early Saturday after a long illness.
He was born near St. Joseph, Mo. In 1907 he came to Wichita from Weatherford, Okla. and had resided here since. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
On Oct. 16, 1948, Mr. and Mrs. Ashford celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. His widow, Rosetta survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Betsworth, Butts building; two sons, Floyd Ashford, 440 North West street, and Howard Ashford, of Altuna, Kan.; another brother, Roy E. Ashford, 2220 North Hydraulic and 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the Broadway mortuary chapel. Rev. Carl Moran of the Wichita Unity center will officiate. Interment will be in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
