Born in Taben, Trier District, Rhine Province, Kingdom of Prussia (today Taben-Rodt, State of Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany). Emigrated to the United States with her parents via Le Havre, arriving in New York City on December 29, 1862, on board the ship "Admiral." Proceeded with the family to Sherrill, Dubuque County, Iowa, where her father acquired a farm one mile northeast of town. Upon the death of her father Johann Gansemer in 1874, married Michael Leineweber, who joined the family on the Gansemer farm.
With Michael, had three children -- Katharina (Kate), Peter (Pete), and John Baptiste. Remained on the farm with Kate and Pete after the death of her husband in 1902. Upon the death of Pete in 1929, relocated to Portland, Oregon, to be with her surviving son John Baptiste.
