Age 90 years, 10 months, 7 days.

Son of Peter and Tamar (Bartlett) Spaulding.

In 1870, after the death of his first wife, in New Bedford, he married Mariah H. Griggs, a widow, daughter of Stephen and Mary J. Powers, in a second marrige for both.

From the "Boston Journal," 26 Feb 1897:
Rev. Erastus Spaulding of Worcester died of old age at the home of H. W. Carter, Millbury, Thursday, at the age of 91 years.
He was born in Oxford and was widely know in the Methodist denomination as "Father" Spaulding, having been for many years a prominent figure at the camp meetings far and wide.
He began his business life as a driver of a tin cart through Worcester County.
He opened a tin and hardware store in Millbury, and later went to Webster to engage in the same line of business and met with success. He retired from active business many years ago, and had since lived in ease upon his income.

He was twice married. His second wife, one son, Cyrus Spaulding and one daughter, Mrs. Amos Bartlett, both of Webster, survive him.
