Ruth F. Rockefeller, 83, of the 1600 block of Old Donation Road, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2002.
Born in Conway, N.C., Ruth was the widow of her husband of 53 years, C. Kirwan Rockefeller Sr. She was a member of Kings Grant Baptist Church, Little Creek Women's Club, and the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Archer and her husband Bill of Tuscon, Ariz., and Carolyn Dodson and her husband Ron of Virginia Beach and a son, Dr. Kirwan Rockefeller of Newport Beach, Calif. She is also survived by a sister, Emma Buck of Norfolk; a brother, Howard Futrell of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Brad Archer of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jennifer Buckman of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., Kimberly Carroll of Virginia Beach, Patrick Archer of Tuscon and Leigh Dodson of Virginia Beach; and one great-grandchild, Quinn Archer of Salt Lake City.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Daniel J. Cooper. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, today from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
