Rufus enlisted in the Union Army as a private in Co. F, 3rd Regiment, East Tennessee Calvary in Somerset, KY. He was 5'10', fair complexion, dark eyes & hair and was born in Blount Co., TN.
He was captured on Sept 25, 1864 at Sulphur Branch Trestle, Alabama. He was mustered out on June 12, 1865. Info obtained from his military records.
