HURST — Ralph McCanlies, 81, a retired mechanic for Bell Helicopter, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan 4, 2003.

Funeral: 2 pm Friday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials: Texas Children Lions Camp in Kerrville, American Heart Association, 2401 Scott Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76103, or American Diabetes Association. P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.

Mr. McCanlies, a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, was a devoted 'Lions Club member. He was very active in Children Lions Camp, a past t president of the River Oaks Lions Club, zone chairman for District 2E2, and a past member of the local Texas Lions Club Band. A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, he also enjoyed restoring antique pump organs in his retirement years.

Survivors: wife of 60 years, Kathryn McCanties; daughters, Barbara Bamberg and husband, Jim Knight and Susan Gough and husband, Pat; grandchildren, Todd Bamberg and wife, Deborah and Hayley Gough; sisters, Betty Coleman and Helen Wolter; brother, John McCanlies and wife, Marilyn; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.
