Martha was born in Los Angeles in 1913. She moved to the Owens Valley with her family when she was in elementary school and attended school in Lone Pine.
She married E.B. "Red" Austin in 1930. They had on daughter Lorna. The couple founded Austin's General Store in Independence. She also worked for the County Recorder's office. retiring after 30 years of service.
Martha is preceded in death by her huband of 57 years, Red Austin, in 1987 and daughter Lorna in 2002.
She is survived by four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
