May 13, 1919 issue of the Joliet Evening Herald-News (Joliet, IL), stated that in "spring of 1917, May joined Unit 12 and was the first Will County woman to respond to the call for foreign service."
Mary married Harold Coon sometime before 1927 as they are listed in US City directory for Stevens Point then.

DR HAROLD COON MARRIES
Dr. Harold M. Coon, son of Dr. and Mrs John W Coon and associate medical director at River Pines Sanitorium, was married at Joliet, Ill, . at noon on Tuesday to Miss Mary Morrissey of Joliet. Among those who witnessed the event were the grooms parents and his sister, Miss Dorothy Coon.
Dr Coon and his bride have gone on an auto trip of a week or longer and will then go to housekeeping at River Pines. He is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania medical school, class of 1922 and then took a years's internship at Bradley Memorial Hospital, Madison before beginning his duties at the sanitorium. Mrs Coon was also a memger of the Madison hospital staff, filling the position of supervisor of nurses. She has made frequent visits to this city and enjoys a considerable acquaintance among local people.

In 1930, they were living, with Dr John William Coon, Harold's father. Also living with them were Harold's mother, Jennie Macomber Coon, sister in law Ella Heath, and Harold's single sister Dorothy Coon.
The 1930 census was enumerated at Rustic Pines Sanitorium, where John and Harold were physicians, (John also was manager) and Dorothy was the dietitian in Plover, Portage County, Wisconsin.
