Mrs. Henry Bruner Dead
On last Friday, while Rev. and Mrs. Henry Bruner, of the Oak Ridge neighborhood, were on their way to New Salem to attend meeting, Mrs. Bruner suffered a stroke of paralysis and fell from her horse. She was taken to the home of Uncle Tom Bails, near by, where she lingered until Saturday, when death relieved her suffering.
Mrs. Bruner was a kind and loving Christian woman, and was loved and respected by all who knew her.
Her remains were laid to rest in the New Salem graveyard Monday.

CARD OF THANKS
Whereas, as my wife and I did on the 17th of August, 1917, start from our home in the Piney Woods to attend the communion meeting at New Salem Church, the Great God of the Universe saw fit to visit my wife with a stroke of paralysis whilst near Uncle Thomas Bales, where she was soon taken, and where her life on earth was ended and taken to the realms above.
I therefore take this method of thanking every individual that aided and assisted me in my distressed condition, from the time she was stricken until she was buried, on the 20th day of August, at the burying ground near New Salem church house, where she was raised.
And I especially wish to thank the entire family of Uncle Thomas Bales for the kindness to me and my dying wife, and for the kindness shown to my children and my friends. And may the blessings of Heaven rest upon them all in their old days so I will have to bow my head sadly and say God's will be done.
