PLEASANT GROVE – Mrs. Helen Alexander Harvey, 81, wife of Jonathan L. Harvey, died at her home Friday of causes incident to age, following an illness of 18 months. Mrs. Harvey was born in Parowan on January 16, 1854, a daughter of Horace Morton and Katherine Houston Alexander. During her early life she taught school in Salt Lake City and Provo. Active in L. D. S. church affairs, she was the first M. I. A. stake president of Utah st, an office she held when the stake comprised all of Utah County. She also started the first library in Provo for the M. I. A.

Following her marriage December 30, 1880, in the Salt Lake L. D. S. Endowment house, they went to Pleasant Grove to live. She served as president of the M. I. A., in the presidency of the Third ward Relief society, was chairman of the library board and one of the organizers of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers in Pleasant Grove.

Surviving, besides her husband, are eight sons and daughters, Mrs. Effie Chipman and Dr.Dean A. Harvey, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Katherine McOmie, Paragonah; Mrs. Helen Kellerman and William C. Harvey, California; Mrs. Lucille H. Walker and L. P. Harvey, Pleasant Grove; also 20 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Timpanogos L. D. S. stake tabernacle. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove city cemetery.
