Susan Adelia "Susie" Alexander Roberts was born on March 27, 1862 in Parowan, Iron County, Utah to noteworthy pioneers Horace Martin Alexander and Catherine Houston. The 1880 census confirms her year of birth although many of the family trees show her birth in 1861.

Susan moved with her family to the Provo, Utah area where she met Isaac Bullock Roberts. They married in 1882 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were living in Provo when their oldest children were born but moved to farm in the Wellington/Farnham area of Carbon County, Utah by 1886. {Other family members lived in the area, including Isaac's brother John "Jack" Riggs Roberts, Sarah Ann "Pauline" Jones Roberts (who was Jack's first wife) and their little daughter Erato who was born in 1893.}

The historical records indicate that Susan may have died in childbirth with her sixth child in 1892. Her headstone lists her date of death as 17 Dec 1893. It is possible that the infant was buried with Susie.

The beautiful and unique handmade monument/headstone serves as a memorial to "Susie", (who died in 1893 at age 31); her sister-in-law "Pauline", (who died in 1896 at the age of 25), her little niece Erato (daughter of Pauline & Jack, who died in 1901 at the age of 8), as well as her husband Isaac who died in 1920 at the age of 70, having never remarried.
