Born March 24, 1824 in TENN. Lived in Sullivan, COLO; IND; OKLA, TEX. Died in 1881.

Father of John and Phillip Nealy. He was a wagon master.

Information submitted by David Nealy, great-grandson:

This is my great grandfather, through my genealogy research, I found him. He died when my grandfather was 3 or 4 and his mother died 2 years later. He & his younger brother were orphaned and were seperated and passed haphazardly among relatives, never went to school and the name was changed by a census taker. My grandfather used to say that old Dr. Kennedy in Grapeland told him that our name was not Nealy.

Joseph moved to Carlisle, Sullivan County, Indiana, with his parents and his baby brother Phillip, in 1826 or 1827. Joseph was the eldest son, he eventually had nine other brothers and sisters (who were also born in Carlisle).
