Carriage Shops
as told by Harry Clay

There were two wagon shops in Linglestown. The first shop was run by my grandaddy even before 1865. His name was Jonas Baker and the wagon shop stood where Wilson's Pharmacy is now, on Linglestown Road. He made buggies and sold them to the people around here and sometimes to people from as far away as Middletown. After Jonas Baker died, G. Washington Baker, his brother started up his own wagon shop at 6029 Linglestown Road.
