Ray R. Langston, 82, a 58 year Wenatchee resident, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Colonial Vista Rehab Center. He was born on March 9, 1929, at Wiseman, AR to Henry and Carrie (Todd) Langston. He spent his early years growing up in Arkansas and, following the death of his father, came to Wenatchee to stay with his cousin. He graduated from the ninth grade in Wenatchee before returning to Arkansas, where he graduated from the Violethill High School in 1948. He entered the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was married to Gerri Hall on December 23, 1952, in Salem, AR. They made their first home in Russell, NM, where he was stationed. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, they moved to make their home in Wenatchee. He worked at a variety of jobs before going to work for the Chelan County Highway Department in 1960. He later became a Supervisor and remained with Chelan County for 35 years, retiring in 1996. Throughout their married life, Ray and Gerri travelled extensively. He enjoyed woodworking and building birdhouses. He also liked exercising and walking. Ray was a longtime member of the King's Orchard Church of Christ in Wenatchee.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gerri Langston of Wenatchee; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Lori Langston of Mercer Island; and two grandchildren, Alec Langston and Annie Langston, both of Mercer Island. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Nolan Langston; and one sister, Anna Lee Langston.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at 12:00 Noon at King's Orchard Church of Christ, 1610 Orchard Street, Wenatchee, with Dale Linge, Minister, officiating. Concluding Services and the Interment will follow in the Wenatchee Cemetery.
