Nolan Langston June 4, 1924 - June 1, 2010

Mr. Nolan Langston, age 85, of Jordan, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Community Medical Center of Izard County.

He was born on June 4, 1924 in Izard County, Arkansas to Henry and Carrie Langston. He married Wileen Langston on February 9, 1951. As a teenager, Nolan worked in the shipyards in Bremerton, Washington. Soon after that, during World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps for the Bomb Group stationed in Italy. After the war, in 1949, Nolan became the first man in Izard County to raise chickens commercially and he worked as a farmer until 1955, when he became a union carpenter in Kansas City, Missouri. For serving over 50 years in the carpenters union he was awarded a Lifetime Membership in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He was a member of the Rodney Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his two sons: Dennis (Paula) Langston of Norfork and David (Janette) Langston of Kansas City, Missouri; his only brother, Ray (Gerri) Langston of Wenatchee, Washington; three grandchildren: Jennifer Langston, Jonathan (Lisa) Langston, and Jessica Langston; a great grandson, Kayden Langston and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wileen Langston; and his parents Henry and Carrie Langston.

Visitation will be from 12 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 4 at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 until 8 p.m. A funeral service, officiated by Reverend Dave Williamson will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 5 at Roller Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Hand Halls Chapel Cemetery near Jordan.
