J O Loucks, 71, who suffered a stroke of paralysis on March 2, passed away Sunday evening at his home on West Waterford street. He had been bed fast since the stroke.

Born in Locke township, a mile and a half south of Wakarusa, Oct 15, 1867, he was the son of Jacob and Katherine Freed Loucks.

His marriage to Ella Anthony took place Nov 23, 1890. They lived on a farm three miles west of Wakarusa until 24 years ago, when they moved to their present home in Wakarusa.

Surviving are Mrs Loucks; two children, Mrs Clayton (Bertha) Stickel of near Wakarusa and Charles Loucks of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Marian, Gladys and Dorothy Loucks of Mishawaka, Mrs Byron Eslinger and Herbert Stickel of near Wakarusa; two great-grandchildren, Jean and Billy Eslinger; a brother, Jonas, of west of Wakarusa, and two sisters, Mrs Mary Dils of Wakarusa and Mrs Ezra Shantz of Baden, Ontaria.

A grandson, Robert Loucks, passed away July 29, 1937.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the home at 2 pm and at the Olive Mennonite church at 2:30. The Rev D A Yoder of north of Wakarusa officiated, assisted by the Rev Charles Wright of Bremen. Burial in the Olive cemetery.
