Sion married Susan 11 Mar 1798 Union County South Carolina.

He was the son of Simon Murphy II and Sarah Jones [Duke] Murphy.

Son Isaac Murphy & his sister Edy Murphy Jackson, both kept Bible and Family Records that included their parents and families, birth & death dates, some marriages.

Isaac's bible record was published in a book, 'South Carolina, Bible Records, Pinckney District Chapter, South Carolina Genealogical Society. Edy's was in her, "Holy Bible,

Old and New Testament: The Apocrypha:...' This bible was in the possession, a Descendant of Sion Murphy's., who was living in SC. I do not know the fate of this Bible Record today.

Sion and Susan had attended the Padgett's Baptist Church, in Union Co SC, Sion until he passed away, on Apr 25, 1847, Sion's wife Susan is Received by confession of Faith

and Experience at the Lower Fairforest Baptist Church also in Union Co SC, many of

her children where also members of this church, and had, at one time, were also members of the Padgett's Creek Baptist Church. You might ask why is not Sion being received, well, the Fairforest Church was a meeting house of the Padgett's Creek Church until 1809, when the Fairforest became it own independent church, so, some members really never left the Padgett's church, just continued to show up at the old meeting house, now the Lower Fairest Baptist Church. Some members show dismissed and received and some do not...ie, Robert White Sr, was charter member no. 1 at the LF Church, he never showed been dismissed from the Padgett's just continued showing up at the LF Church, never, showing dismissed from the mother church, Padgett's...

Sion was a Pvt in the Revolutionary War, in

Brandon's Regiment, he was at the fall or

Charleston and Anderson's return. His records

of service are on file at the SC Archive in Columbus SC.

SAR records (Sons of the American Revolution), organization

have been filed and approved for Sion's service.

Sion also served as a witness to the Rev. War Service of

William Wilbanks, years after his passing, his wife filed

for his pension Dec 19, 1844.

is on the 1850 at 70 yrs old and living with son Isaac, and daughter Sylvia, Susan

died 1851.

a petition to administer the Estate. "South Carolina - Union District - In the Court of Ordinary" In response to Isaac's petition: "Court of Ordinary (Nov 21st 1845),

It appears Isaac P Murphy was granted Administration of Sion's Estate..."

Mrs Eliza Jensen took the recent photo of Sion Murphy II, grave marker, on July 10, 2015, along with a photo of the Cemetery area.

Locally the cemetery is known as the "Murphy Cemetery", and on the former Grant Lands of his father, later to become Sion III's Homeplace.
