Wm. Root Jr. of Leal Barnes county was fatally shot while at work plowing in the field. He was at work plowing and carried a shot gun on the plow and though noting of the accident was known until the team hitched to the plow came running to the house evidently frightened by the shot. Members of the family went to the field and there found the unfortunate young man with the side of his head horribly mangled and the brain exposed. He was taken to the house and Dr. Wanner of Wimbledon and Dr. Spicer of Dazey were called and did everything possible for him. There is positively no chance for his recovery. He carried a $2,000 policy in the M. W. A.
