Mr. Oakes

Luther Ciscro Oakes, 85, 4905 14th Ave., Chattanooga, Tenn., died Friday in a Chattanooga nursing home following an extended illness.

Mr. Oakes was born in Whitfield County, May 31, 1894, son of the late William Jessie and Betty Elizabeth Bell Oakes. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and resided the early part of his life in Rome.

Among the survivors are two stepsons, James Fricks of Rome and Elbert Fricks of Shannon, and two sisters, Mrs. Eunice Jones of Calhoun and Mrs. Della Blankenship of Plains.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Dr. Rogers Martin officiating. Interment will be in Salmon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. today.
