Ruth, 80, died peacefully in her sleep. She was a very beautiful lady who suffered from multiple medical complications late in life. Ruth was born in Lincoln, Neb., the youngest of four children. The family moved to Portland when she was a junior in high school. Ruth went to UO for one year and worked most of her life at Steamfitters Union. Ruth was preceded in death by the love of her life, Reid A. Speer; and daughter, Teri Burge. She is survived by her sister, Ilene Tamlyn; son, Scott Burge; daughter, Ellen Burge; stepson, Sandy Speer; grandchildren, Kati Weyer and Brad Burge; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Finley-Sunset Hills Memorial Park. (The Oregonian, 26 Sep 2011)
