Mrs. John Haines, After An Illness Of
Nine Months, Passed On Before,
Ending Long Life Crowded
With Duties Well Done.
Mary Elizabeth Haines passed from
this life at 2:15 o'clock this Tuesday
morning at her home at 319 West Elm
street, Sycamore, after an, illness of
about nine months.
She was the daughter of Horace and
Maria Haskins, pioneers of DeKalb
county, and was born in Genoa township
May 19, 1846. There she grew to
womanhood. She was united in marriage
to John Haines on November 17,
1867. To this union were born nine
children. Mr. and Mrs. Haines resided
on the farm for many years, and for
about six years they have been residents
of Sycamore.
She had been a life, long member of
the Methodist church and was also a
member of the Relief Corps.
She is survived by her husband John
Haines, and seven children: Mrs. Wm.
Baker of Virgil, Ill., Mrs. F. A. Read
of Lily Lake., Mrs. Clara Eddy and
Mrs. Flora Naker of Sycamore, U. H.
Haines of Marengo, A. M. Haines of
Plato Center and H. D. Haines of Ft.
Sheridan Ill.
The funeral services will be held in
the Charter Grove church at 2:30 p. m.
on Thursday, July 20, and the interment
will be in the Charter Grove cemetery.
Bev. McClintock of Elizabeth
will officiate.
