Myrtle Lorraine Cannon, 86, died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 6:09am . She was a native of Indianapolis, IN and resident of Houma, LA.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 9:00am to 1:00pm at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 1:00pm at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc..

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Myrtle Cannon was survived by four sons David Cannon and wife Brenda of Houma LA, Ronnie Cannon and wife Pam of Reno NV, Jimmy Cannon and wife Liz of Houma LA, and Danny Cannon and wife Tricia of Houma LA, two daughters Shirley Use' and husband Ralph of Houma LA Nancy Brown and husband Dale of Houma LA, one sister Katherine Patterson and husband Jack of Dallas TX, fourteen grandchildren, Heather Dahl, Shaawn Cannon, Derek Brown, Aimee Johnson, deVonne Barron, Staacy Walker, Ben Cannon, Sarah Olivier, Michael Brown, Byron Brown, Stephanie Cannon, Lindsey Cannon, Seth Cannon, and Joshua Cannon, and many numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by her spouse Forrest Cannon, her parents Carl and Lillian McCoy, one brother, Harold McCoy and two sisters, Dolores Barker and Marjorie Hiles.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Houma. Myrtle was a devoted wife and mother of six, whose faith in God sustained her thru many trials during her lifetime. She was a shining example of a Christian mother. She had a sharp mind and keen wit and enjoyed participating in Jeopardy and the Spelling Bees at the Homestead, her home for the past seven years. Even though she was physically challenged, she cherished the many visits from family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
