Captain "Jean" Francois Manson was awarded the Officer Legion of Honour medal for action during the Battle of Montmirail, defending Paris against the German & Russian Armies on 28 Feb., 1814. This was one of Napoleon's last victories, during the 1st Empire, before he abdicted in April 1814. Francois was wounded in the left shoulder during this battle. The French Army was outnumbered 2 to 1 with a force of only 6000 soldiers. He was born in St.Julien-les-Metz, Moselle, France.
