Jesup- Mr. Ernest E. Vaughn, age 73, passed away Monday, February 2, 2009 at his residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia after an extended illness.
He was a native of Ware County living the past thirty-seven years in Wayne County. He was a United States Army Veteran, a member of the Parkway Church of God and the Adult Sunday School Class. He served on the Church Councils of the Hickory Street Church of God and the Parkway Church of God, where he was also a young adult Sunday School teacher. Mr. Vaughn sold produce in Wayne and Long Counties for numerous years, was a retried ironworker from the Local Ironworkers #709-Savannah, he was also an avid outdoorsmen who loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter: Tammy D. Schuyler, and a sister and brother: Patricia Highsmith and Ronnie Vaughn.
He is survived by his wife: Willie Jo Bailey Vaughn of Jesup; four daughters: Sharon Charlene Carter of Waycross, Victoria Celia Parks and husband Lawrence of Bronwood, GA, Eugenia Lynn Schell of Jesup, Nitza Sharone Hubbard and husband Randy of Cumming; one sister: Terry Patterson of Waycross and one brother: Winnie Vaughn and wife Barbara Ann of Nahunta.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 3 p.m. from the James R. Gordon Memorial Chapel of Howard-Jones-Nobles Funeral Home with Reverend Eugene Evors officiating.
Interment will follow in the Jesup City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
