Jamie Swain passed away in Raleigh on August 15th, 2011 after a yearlong battle with ALS. Jamie was born on March 1st, 1962 in Columbia, NC to James Marshall Swain and Joel Combs Swain (both deceased).

Jamie graduated as Valedictorian of her Columbia High School class and attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She worked her adult life in the Chapel Hill – Raleigh area, most recently working in data processing at the UNC Hospital system.

Jamie enjoyed spending her time reading and gardening, trying to grow the hottest peppers she could, knowing they would be too much for others, especially her brothers.

Jamie was an avid cat lover and prided herself in selecting unique names for them. She even expressly requested that one of her cat's remains be placed with her in her final resting place.

Jamie maintained her love for her cats and trademark sense of humour all the way to the end.

Arrangements are by the Bryan Funeral Home in Columbia, NC (252-796-5159).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any contributions be made to:
