NEWSPAPER NOT IDENTIFIED - CLAUDE CALVERT, 70, DIES TUESDAY MORNING IN DECATUR HOSPITAL
John Claude Calvert, 70, of 1226 N. Woodford St., Decatur, died at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday in Wabash Employees Hospital where he had been confined since 16Nov. He had been in failing health about 2 years.
Calvert had lived in Decatur about 29 years, going there from Westervelt. He retired last month after being a Wabash Railroad carman for 27 years. He was a member of the Central Christian Church & the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen.
He was born in Shelby Co. 23May1882, a son of John & Lydia Calvert. On 06Mar1904, he married Myrtle Jackson in Shelby Co.
Besides his wife, Calvert leaves 7 daughters, Mrs. Ruby Hendrian, Miss Zelma Calvert, Mrs. Inez Smith, Mrs. Claudine Suzewits, Mrs. Pearl Howe, & Mrs. Nellie Hill, all of Decatur; & Mrs. Fern Gilligan, Bakersfield, CA; 12 grandchildren & 1 great-grandchild. One brother, Sid of Sterling, CO & a sister, Mrs. Cora Davis of Sullivan, who is with her son in Charleston, SC, also survive. Four brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Claude Calvert of Decatur will be conducted at 2:30 Friday afternoon at the J. J. Moran & Son funeral home in Decatur.
Mr. Calvert was formerly a resident of the Westervelt community.
