Nellie was born on January 14, 1921 in Westervelt, IL the daughter of John Claude and Myrtle Bell (Jackson) Calvert. She married Benjamin Hill on February 22, 1941 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1981.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. She had worked at S.S. Kresge Store, Kindercare and the Decatur Public Schools. She was also a Girl Scout and Brownie leader.
Surviving are a son, three daughters, 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 sisters, 1 grandson and 1 great-grandson.
Funeral Liturgy to celebrate Nellie's life was 10 AM Friday, March 1, 2013 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Weltin presiding. Visitation was 5-7 PM Thursday in the funeral home. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Scovill Zoo.
