PVT WILLIAM R. SIMPSON, son of Mr, and Mrs. George E. Simpson. R. D. 1, Durhamville, died Oct. 22 of wounds received in action in Germany on Oct. 21, according to word received by the parents from the War Department. Pvt. Simpson, who was known to his family and friends as Billy, completed eighth grade school at Durhamville and completed third year high school in Oneida in June, 1943, entering service July 10 that year. He was born in Oneida, April 10, 1925. He was home for Thanksgiving day last year, coming from Camp Croft, S. C., and leaving home for Fort George Meade, Md. Besides his parents, he has a brother. Cpl. Donald E. Simpson, in the Dutch East Indies; a sister, Helen and a brother, Gordon, at home; also his grandmother, Mrs Cora Russell, Oneida, several aunts, and uncles and cousins.
