A Civil War Veteran, Pvt. Co A., 9th VT Inf.; transferred to Co. D. 16th US Inf., Jan 22, 1863. Mustered out on Jul 14 1865. Enlisted as Pvt, Co. D, VT 16th Inf on 22 Jan 1863. He was listed as Missing in Action outside of Annapolis, MD, Aug 13, 1864. He fought in the battle of Chickamauga, GA on Sept 19th, 1863. In all he fought in 12 battles in Georgia, Tennessee and New Mexico. Discharged from 16th Infantry Regiment Regular Army on 14 Jul 1865
